If you want to customize settings in Windows 8.1, there are now several places you can look. In addition to the Control Panel, there is now also PC Settings. If you find that it is a little awkward to access through the Charms bar, you can create a shortcut to PC Settings that can be placed on the desktop, in the taskbar or on the Start screen.
You can download a small file from 7tutorials.com which will help you out. Download the file and extract the contents — it’s a zip file so there’s no need for extra software.
You can place the executable file wherever you like, but to make it easier to access you might like to create a Start screen shortcut. To do this, just right click the file and select the Pin to Start option.
If you would prefer a taskbar shortcut, just drag the icon onto the taskbar and one will be created for you.
The next time you need to access PC Settings there is no need to navigate through the Charms bar as it is now just a click away.
There is also the option of adding a keyboard shortcut. Right click the desktop or taskbar shortcut you have created and select Properties.
Click within the Shortcut key field and press the shortcut you would like to use before clicking OK.
