When you need to access PC Settings quickly, having to navigate through the Charms bar can seem like it just takes too long. You may have thought about adding a shortcut to PC Setting to the Start screen to make life a little easier, but you will have noticed that there is no obvious way to do this. At least this used to be the case in Windows 8. Assuming you have upgraded to Windows 8.1 — and there is simply no reason not to! — there is a handy shortcut options available to you.
Call up the Start screen by hitting the Windows key, clicking the Start button, pressing Ctrl + Esc, or any other method that works for you. If the All Apps view does not appear by default, click the down arrow button to switch screens, or swipe upwards if you have a touchscreen.
Locate the PC Settings shortcut and right click it — or tap and hold if you are using a touch screen. At the bottom of the screen you’ll see a bar appear; within this, click the Pin to Start button.
If you return to the main screen of the Start screen, you’ll see a new shortcut that will give you instant access to PC Settings.
Enjoy your quicker, easier access!
